The season change is upon us! Urban Renewal brings us a fantastic twist on some of the bavarian brewing traditions of Munich. It's part Veinna Lager, it's part English Ale, but it's all tasty! Rich and sweet with a delicious candy apple finish, this beer showcases toffee and caramel tones with a delicious graham cracker tone. Deep red with a frothy tan head, tight lacing and a graceful finish, this beer is the perfect way to start the Harvest.
This style is loosely based on the Vienna Lager. Very comparable mashbills consisting of Vienna, Munich, and Caramel Malts. These beers are generally done with Ale yeast strains as opposed to lagering strains, as a result, they tend to produce more fruity esters, but few phenolics. Malty with grainy-sweet malt tones and a caramelly or nutty like mash component. Hop profile tends to be low to medium and moderately bitter. Expect to finish dry, and still well attenuated. Banana and clove hefeweizen character like a Dampfbier or Dunkelweissen are not acceptable. Yeast profile should be fruity, but clean from phenolics.
